However, at festivals you won't be carrying the tent on your back all day, at most you'll be carrying it from the car park or the nearest bus stop. This gives us a lot more freedom and a wider choice. When it comes to choosing a sleeping mat, it's very much about your preference. You can go for the thickest sleeping mattress, which is almost like sleeping in a bed at home, but it's harder on your budget and heavier. Or you can choose one of the thinner self-inflating mattresses, which are comfortable, stable and lightweight.
